Important Delivery Notice for Large Items
This guide is designed to help you prepare if you’re considering allowing our heavy goods vehicle (HGV), or light goods vehicles (Vans) onto a private property for delivery.
For insurance purposes, all of our staff and vehicles are only insured for kerbside delivery only. As this is not always practical, if requested, our staff may oblige to leave the roadside if they feel it is safe to do so.
However, there will no liability held for any damages occurred whilst operating off road. Driving a HGV onto private land should be avoided unless absolutely necessary, as these vehicles can weigh up to 10 tonnes per axle and may pose a risk to certain surfaces.
Please note that anyone asking our vehicles to leave the highway should ask permission from the land/property owner before hand and must acknowledge risk’s.
Potential Risks to Be Aware Of:
- Soft, waterlogged or even dry grass areas/verges
- Block paving, decorative or any form of driveways
- Unsecured or uneven paving slabs
- Manhole covers
- Restricted turning space that could cause various damages to our vehicle of surfaces
How to minimise risk on Delivery:
✔ Lay down timber boards or protective sheeting to safeguard the surface
✔ Clear parked vehicles to allow turning and safe access
✔ Trim any low-hanging branches or overgrown hedges
✔ Measure narrow gateways or access routes in advance
✔ Point out any potential hazards to the delivery driver upon arrival
